Real Micro Wedding submitted and photographed by Outshined Elopements
Heidi and Derrick had an incredible destination micro wedding in one of Heidi’s favorite places: Artist Point in the Mount Baker National Forest in Washington State.
The day began with the couple getting ready in the two rented cabins. Heidi got ready with her best friend and, with the assistance of her hair and makeup artist, Amanda from a.nd beauty, and the groom in the larger cabin where all the guests were staying. Stacy, from Outshined Photography, was there to document the day (and officiate!) and arrange the first look, which the couple was so excited about! They were both so anxious to see each other for the first time on their wedding day, but as soon as they saw each other, their nerves melted away.
Heidi and Derrick were surprised at how thorough their elopement photographer was in helping them work through all the details about their day, how she emphasized enjoying the process, and how she helped them focus on making their wedding as meaningful to them as possible. Hiring someone like Stacy will allow you to have a lot of support for your day—often including things like location scouting, help setting the timeline, officiating, and, of course, documenting every moment, which makes planning super easy!
The ceremony was held at Artist Point, on a mountaintop in the Mount Baker Wilderness. The location is absolutely stunning, offering views of Mount Shuksan and Mount Baker, of course. The wedding party drove up from the cabins and took a short hike to the ceremony location. The guests stood and sat on the rocks nearby to watch the couple exchange their vows.
The couple incorporated a few details to honor family members past and present who were not at the ceremony, including using a Polaroid camera that the bride’s aunt used on her adventures earlier in her life. After a day full of adventure, the couple returned to the rented cabin to celebrate with their guests and enjoy cake and champagne.
The couple’s advice: “Try not to get overwhelmed with the planning process, and be sure to work with someone as invested in realizing your vision for your wedding day as you are. And most importantly, take a breath and be present with your partner.”
